I had a 8+ pounder slam my frog too
I sank the hook and it pulled me sideways and dug into the pads, I was shaking! I kept the pressure on and slowly worked her up to the tube and out of the weeds only to find out it was a pike! nice fish, but a let down when I was hoping to see a near state record larry come up!
The topwater frog pattern is working really well for me right now. The top three bass in the derby were all caught on a frog. I'll be able to cull with the 19" toad I pulled in last night. I'll report on my blog tonight after work.
