Minnesota Bass Fishing Wins Derby!!!

For the 2nd year in a row Jason Holmer of the blog Minnesota Bass Fishing has won the Bass Pundit Minnesocold Bass Bloggers Derby also taking Big Bass honors for the 2nd straight year with another 7lber. Jason's 5 fish creel went 28.32lbs which unbelievably is .60 of a pound less than his Derby record bag of last year.

2nd Place goes to Rich's Bassin Blog with an impressive 27.35lb bag.

3rd Place goes to JoshDouglas.com blog with 25.32lbs

This year 16 blogs had fish, which is 1 more entrant than last year and actually 2 more blogs than last year because my friend Pete who isn't a blogger, but was in the Derby last year.

This was my best Derby yet with 23.50lbs.

Matt Peters with a Hawg

Truth be told, last year it's very possible that Bass Pro/Fishing Guide Matt Peters of fishwithmatt.com would have won the BP Derby if he would have only given weights or lengths for some of the massive fish he caught last year. Also problematic with Matt is he is usually fishing with others and you don't know who caught what fish when there was some form of measurement to go by.

Anyway, I'm Facebook friends with Matt and he posted this picture there and actually gave a weight, so it counts. I have no doubt that Matt would be in the lead right now if he were to go out of his way to let me know the size of fish he has caught since Saturday.

6.20lbs

OOPS was discovered that Matt didn't catch this fish. Off the board it goes.

2010 Derby Rules

1. The Bass Pundit Minnesocold Bass Blogger Derby 2010 runs from May 29th 2010 to November 15th 2010.

2. The Derby is open to all bloggers and Bass Pundit blog readers who fish bass in Minnesocold.

3. Bloggers will be known either by blog name or by moniker.

4. Bloggers are fishing to fill a 5 fish bag of their biggest fish caught over the coarse of the Derby .

A. Leaving a comment on this blog or Bass Pundit giving the details of either a fish, or multiple fish's weight or length.
B. Sending an email to basspundit@hotmail.com
C. Refering to a bass' weight or length on their blog (However there is no guarentee I will see the post so options A and B are preferred.

6. The Derby is on the honor system, your word is good. No need for the hassle of pictures. But having pics would be nice to show off.

7. Weights can be taken from official tournament scales or hand held scales.

8 . Lengths should be measured on an accurate ruler with the fish's mouth closed and tail pinched.

9. Length will be converted to weight and Ounces to hundredths of a pound. Conversion table
