Derby Rules for 2014:

The Bass Pundit Minnesocold Bass Bloggers Derby is renamed the Bass Pundit Minnesocold Big Bass Bloggers Derby 2014.

1. The Derby runs from January 1, 2014 to Dec 31, 2014.  Fish caught at any time during the year can be entered.

2. The Derby is open to all bloggers and Bass Pundit Blog readers who catch a bass in the state of Minnesota this year.

3. There is NO minimum length or weight other than the fish has to be bigger than one you have already caught.

4. Only 1 fish counts in your bag and the biggest fish at the end of the year wins.

5. There must be a picture of the fish for it to count.  Pictures with the angler in it are preferred.  You don't have to have it next to measuring device.  See rule #7

6. Bloggers "weigh in" by:
     A. Leaving a comment on this blog or Bass Pundit giving the details of either the fish's weight or length and letting me know where there is a picture.
     B. Sending an email to basspundit@hotmail.com
    C. Referring to a bass' weight or length on their blog (However there is no guarantee I will see the post so options A and B are preferred.

7. The Derby is on the honor system, your word is good.

8. Weights can be taken from official tournament scales or hand held scales.

9. Lengths should be measured on an accurate ruler with the fish's mouth closed and tail pinched.

10. Length will be converted to weight and Ounces to hundredths of a pound according to this Conversion table

11.  Largemouth and Smallmouth both count.

12. Bloggers from states other than Minnesocold are welcome and will be allowed to participate provided the bass are caught in Minnesocold.

These are the rules I can think of for now, more may be added later.

*The Josh Douglas Rule this year fish caught in MN prior to May 25th may be included in your Derby bag provided.
1. It was caught in MN where bass season is Open anytime within the year 2013
2. It is a minimum of 5lbs or 20inches long.
3. We get a picture of you and the fish.

2. The Derby is open to all bloggers and Bass Pundit blog readers who fish bass in Minnesocold.

3. Bloggers will be known either by blog name or by moniker.

4. Bloggers are fishing to fill a 5 fish bag of their biggest fish caught over the coarse of the Derby .

5. Bloggers "weigh in" by:
A. Leaving a comment on this blog or Bass Pundit giving the details of either a fish, or multiple fish's weight or length.
B. Sending an email to basspundit@hotmail.com
C. Referring to a bass' weight or length on their blog (However there is no guarantee I will see the post so options A and B are preferred.

6. The Derby is on the honor system, your word is good. No need for the hassle of pictures (unless caught prior to May 25th, see Josh Douglas Rule in #1). But having pics would be nice to show off.

We have a winner


Acording to the rules the Bass Pundit Minnesocold Bass Bloggers Derby 2009 ended 2 days ago.

It was pretty much a foregone conclusion after Sept 13th that Jason Holmer of Minnesota Bass Fishing Blog was going to win.

Story of the 7lber here.... Of coarse this fish was Derby Big Bass.

2nd Place went to Art Sims Bass Fishing Blog with 5 For 25.27LBS

3rd Place went to Casey's Catch of the Day with 5 For 23.94LBS

Good Job MN Bass Bloggers- I have already decided that next years Derby will be a big bass contest.

The Derby Process

#1 Look to see if your blog is on the list. If it isn't let me know and I will include you.
#2 Go out and catch big bass then measure or weigh them.
#3 Leave a comment, email with your moniker or blog name letting the BP know about your catch so he can credit you in the Derby. When you blog about the fish you catch I may end up getting the info that way too.

Optional (encouraged):
If you have one, email a picture of you and your fish or just the fish to basspundit@hotmail.com

Note: As per Derby Rules for a bass to qualify it must be caught in Minnesota and must be a minimum of 17 inches or 3lbs.

2009 Derby Rules

1. The Bass Pundit Minnesocold Bass Blogger Derby 2009 runs from May 2nd 2009 to November 15th 2009. However, For a bass to count it must come from a body of water where bass are in season.

2. The Derby is open to all bloggers who fish bass anywhere North of the Southern border of the great state of Minnesocold.

Note: Pete and Duffman will be grandfathered in if they want, even though they are not bloggers.

3. Bloggers will be known either by blog name or by moniker.

4. Bloggers are fishing to fill a 5 fish bag of their biggest fish caught over the coarse of the Derby .

5. Bloggers "weigh in" by:
A. Leaving a comment on this blog or Bass Pundit giving the details of either a fish, or multiple fish's weight or length.
B. Sending an email to basspundit@hotmail.com
C. Refering to a bass' weight or length on their blog (However there is no guarentee I will see the post so options A and B are preferred.

6. The Derby is on the honor system, your word is good. No need for the hassle of pictures. But having pics would be nice to show off.

13. Weight will be figured to the hundredth of a pound.
